well my extensive dj shadow filled hard disk is well and truly safe! the man absolutely ripped it up last night. the visuals the mashups everything was completely perfect! he even brought the gift of gab out to spit on a load of tracks (who was awesome too - that guy doesn't need to breathe!). he was really emotional and read out a bad review (from timeout in fact) before the show, then he really indulged himself in playing with his gear (in a good way!) the intro to organ Donner was so long! he really messed with us there. totally worth all the money i spent (and it was a lot..........) we also took the thames clipper there which was fun, and a lot quicker than i expected.

you'd of though that the dawn of the summer holidays would have lead to more posts not less..... oh well, bit of a catch up then first......

went to the animal collective show at the coronet last week; they played for an hour and 40 minutes! obviously they have absolutely no regard for those of us who had to get to work early in the morning. they finished at 11:40 and then we had the long trek back up from elephant and castle. however they were very good and much better than i was expecting. some really interesting vocals and no sign of a guitar anywhere!

also managed to pick up their new record 'strawberry jam' which is pretty good. managed finally to go and see blind light at the hayward as well, which had some interesting pieces and some interesting gimmicks...........

also got the bat for lashes record which is extremely girly... think i'll stop listening to it now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! am sure that i've done looooooads of other things too but y'know.....

have tickets for dj shadow at indigo2 tomorrow. thirty plus quid. the man better be good else i''m (intellectually) binning all the hours of tracks, mixes and remixes of his..........

oh and celebrity wise i walked past both melvin bragg and leslie grantham during the last couple of days. melvin bragg was actually walking on the south bank!!!! i wonder if thats what he does, walks up and down, up and down, up and...............

been rather busy as of late............... went to see neurosis last saturday (how time flies) they played a rather flat samey set list which was a little disappointing. They alternated between steve von till and scott kelly led vocal songs - i guess they're getting old. i jokingly said to my friend i just wish theyd play the doorway and then we can leave - which they then did! still atleast they dont do encores. probably not as good as last time....

and neither was cornelius - this was part of the meltdown festival at the royal festival hall. matmos opened and were very good. cornelius was good but not as good as koko. also the comfy chairs and shiney floors made it just a little too easy - at koko i was squashed up against the barrier in the gods losing the feeling in my legs! i has to be entertained so as not take my mind of the pain!

will be stumbling across to yoyo tonight (if i can keep my eyes open!) aaron la crate is ghettoing the place up! should be good maybe the bass will keep me awake!

going to see animal collective next wednesday as well. shame its not a panda bear solo show, still really liking his album. got the new bonde do role album - brilliantly titled 'with lazers' its alright i guess.................

so can't quite get into the justice or shy child records, i guess my anti-house defenses are still up........... maybe the new simian mobile disco record will cure me!

my good friend (and long term collaborator in GodOnlyKnows.) suggested that i listened to the new(ish) converge record. saying it was worth it of only for the production............ not sure if it was..........

talking of my projects my new solo noise mixtape project - boydoesntknow has gone live. check myspace and dl the whole thang.

talking of boys knowing; complete madness - jme is playing at an old old haunt of mine - the buttermarket in shrewsbury (where i was born!) unfortunately its tomorrow so wont be able to make it - however seeing as im struggling to make it down the road to shoreditch at the mo i think the 500 mile return trip might be a bit ambitious!

all i see is hype

went to the st martins school of art degree show (opening night) and yeah didn't see much new there..... the most interesting thing about it was just how cliched it was! always nice to be reminded that there's been no new ideas since 1927..........

in contrast to that went to laz.inc to see stanley donwood's exhibition. not been there before quite an interesting little space with some unsurprisingly bleak donwood images, prolly a good investment if i could raise the £10k to buy one of his copper plates...........

giving the electro a go at the mo, been listening to the shy child record and have bowed to good reviews and also got the justice record, always liked that justice, spank rock mashup - 'put that justice on me'

wiley's at cargo on thursday with the boybetterknow boys - launching 'playtimes over' (i thought that was out ages ago...............) and am still listening to the new raskit album so it mustn't be that bad....... hmmmm......

new dizzee rascal record, not sure what i think yet, obviously the guests are hideous and that boy likes musicals way too much, can't wait for the grime version of 'at the end of the day' - y'know it's coming! verses are tight and beats varied, but not ground breaking. he's playing koko on thursday ain't going to be making i don't think........

new shellac album sounds like shellac, don't really know what i expected..........

the video for that timbo track with nelly furtado and jt is truly awful; alright you rushed it out, you couldn't get them in the same place at the same time, but at least try something different then. if it was on channel u it'd look shit for god's sake..........

Am off to the fantastic sounding street fighter 2 comp at yoyo tonight. ain't been for a while so looking forward to - just hope i can keep my eyes open. i noticed that the coconut twins are playing (sf2 that is) i remember about a month ago they were every where i went - like seriously i went to fabric there they were, went to the old queens head - there they were, went to yoyo there they were, went to tesco there they were...........

was in a pub in holborn yesterday and apparently stood next to that guy from razorlight and russell brand - didn't notice though, not sure whether that means i should be more observant or that i am just immune to sad blokes in cravats!

looks like camden's the place to be tomorrow though. think i'm going to brave a friday night at koko, its always nice to feel old occasionally. hadouken are playing and its quite cheap to get in so think might give them a go, after all their 'song' is quite good... i of course should really be going to the adventures close to home night at the barfly to see jme but hey need my glo stick fix!
